Obituary

Luis L. Joao, 84 of Ludlow, passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Benedita, Portugal, he was the son of the late Antonio and Elisa Joao. He worked as a mechanic for U.S. Envelope/Westvaco for 42 years. Luis loved gardening and the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling, long rides, his daily walks along the Riverwalk in Ludlow and especially time at his favorite beach in Newport, RI. He took great pride in his family and friends. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Ludlow and a member of the Gremio Lusitano Club.

Luis is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years Linda Joao; his son Luis Joao Jr. and his daughter Diane Tetreault; his brother Jack Joao and his sisters Connie Filipe and Trindade Agostinho. He also leaves his 4 beloved grandchildren Ryan and Cassidy Tetreault and Angelina and Cristiano Joao as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son-in-law Michael Tetreault and his siblings Jose, Francisco, Elvira, Manuel, Maria, Fernando, Tony, Arnold and Dino.

Visiting hours for Luis will be Friday, June 7, 2024 from 8:30-10:15 AM at the Kapinos-Mazur Funeral Home, 64 Sewall St., Ludlow, MA followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of Fatima Church. Burial will be in Island Pond Cemetery.

My condolences to my Tia Linda, Diane, Luis Jr,& grandchildren. My Tio Luis had many brothers, but Uncle Louie & Aunt Linda spent many Sundays with our family by our poolside. That' when Diane&Luis JR were toddlers. I have so many happy memories of that time inmy life. Tio Luis made you laugh, taught be how to waterski always interested in my life , This continued when I began my family. i want to remember himfor his love to his family ,his contagious smile, You will be so missed. hugs to all the famil, May LuiS REST IN PEACE.
