Lucy A. Meehan, 101, of Ludlow passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 26, 2022. Born in Northampton, MA on December 22, 1920, she was the daughter of the late James and Anna ( Maggalino) Labato. A graduate of Northampton High School, Lucy worked as the manager of the Miss Florence Diner for 45 years. She was an active member of the former Annunciation Parish, serving as a Eucharistic Minister and member of the Catholic Woman’s Council. Upon moving to Ludlow she was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption and St. Elizabeth’s Parish. She loved watching the Rosary and Chaplet of Divine Mercy each day.
Lucy is survived by her son James Meehan and his wife Harriet of Ludlow; her granddaughter Kelley Santos and her husband Anthony of Palmer and her great-grandson Travis; her sister-in-law Helen Connell of Williamsburg, as well as many nieces and nephews. Sadly she was predeceased by her husband Russell Meehan in 2005; her brothers Frank, Tony and Paul Labato and her sister Christine Mazur.
Lucy’s family would like to thank the staff of Life Care Center of Wilbraham for the care and compassion they showed to Lucy during her time there.
Funeral services for Lucy will be held Saturday, April 2, 2022 at 9:00 AM at the Kapinos-Mazur Funeral Home 64 Sewall St., Ludlow, MA followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Elizabeth’s Parish. Burial will be private in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Northampton. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be Friday, April 1, 2022 from 4:00-7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lucy’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or www.stjude.org or St. Elizabeth’s Parish, 181 Hubbard St., Ludlow, MA 01056.
