Lowell R. Young

Lowell R. Young, 88, of Ludlow, passed away Monday, January 11, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Magnet, IN on July 9, 1927, the son of the late Frank and Emma (Cassidy) Young.

As an infant, Lowell moved with his family to Louisville, KY. He attended local schools and was a graduate of St. Francis Xavier High School. Lowell attended the University of Louisville and was a graduate of the Louisville School of Electronics and Technology.

Lowell proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army. He worked for many years as a Quality Control Manager for RCA in Indianapolis. After relocating to Massachusetts, Lowell worked for several years in the same capacity at F.W. Sickles in Chicopee and R. E. Phelon in East Longmeadow. After retirement he worked as a part-time driver for Baystate Reference Labs.

Lowell was an avid golfer and Golf Channel addict. He was also an avid, lifelong Red Sox fan, even before moving to Massachusetts. In his retirement Lowell enjoyed traveling, especially to the western national parks. .

Lowell is survived by his wife of 64 years Lorine (Kleinhelter) Young of Ludlow; four sons Alan and his wife Patricia of Belchertown; Kevin; Douglas and his wife Linda; and Kenneth all of Ludlow; and his sister Frances Basden and her husband Carl of Burleson, TX. He also leaves six loving grandchildren; Kimberly and her husband Miguel; Adam; Erica and her husband Thomas; Jacob; Kelsey and her fiance Ryan and Eli and his great-grandson Calvin as well as many nieces and nephews around the country. Besides his parents Lowell was predeceased by his sister Evelyn Feldkamp and his brothers Wayne, Marvin and Monte.
