Kevin L. Douville , 57, of Belchertown, passed away on April 26, 2020. Kevin was born and raised in Ludlow, until he moved to Belchertown with the love of his life, best friend and partner of 32 years, Karen Rae Mercier.
Kevin has always been the light in Karen’s eyes and nothing will ever change that. Kevin leaves his loving parents, Ronald and Dolores Martins Douville, his brother Todd and his wife Deana, his brother James and his wife Donna, his father-in-law, Steve Mercier, his sister-in-law, Stephanie Chapin and her husband Robert, and many nieces and nephews. His brother Mark predeceased him in 2006. He also leaves many life-long, very special friends that meant the world to him.
Kevin was self-employed, providing the highest quality plumbing services to the Pioneer Valley for over three decades. He was an avid skier, local music enthusiast, and authentic motorcyclist. Kevin “wrenched on” and meticulously restored countless Harley Davidsons over the years. Kevin made things better. He made people better. He fixed things that were broken and improved things that were not. Everything around him – everyone around him – was better because of him.
Kevin was superbly talented and uniquely humble. He was wiser than he let on, more generous than he needed to be, and was an incredibly kind soul. Kevin died doing what he loved, riding his motorcycle with Karen on the back and friends by his side. Kevin did not watch life pass by. He got on his bike and he chased it, and with a smile on his face, urged us to join. Those who joined were taken on an unforgettable ride, and will be forever in his debt for the experience.
To say that he will always be missed is an understatement. To say that he will always be loved and remembered falls woefully short. When the pandemic has passed, we will come together to celebrate Kevin and all that this wonderful man has meant to us over the years. Until then we will do the best we can to manage, knowing that the Harleys in heaven are going to run a whole lot better.
Donations in Kevin’s name will go to Mark Douville Charitable Fund at Community Foundation at 333 Bridge Street, Springfield, MA 01103.
