SCITUATE – MA, Katherine A.(Betzwieser) Galvin passed away peacefully at home on May 18, 2006 after a long illness. Born in Albany, NY on July 1, 1959, Katherine was the daughter of Erwin A. Betzwieser and the late Margaret Betzwieser. Katherine graduated from Vincentian Institute and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from SUNY Cortland and master’s degree from the University of North Carolina. Katherine worked in education for many years before becoming an account executive for Pearson Digital Learning. While Katherine enjoyed her career, her real love and devotion was to her husband, Brian Galvin and their two daughters, Megan and Jennifer. Katherine enjoyed their many walks on the beach, reading books, sailing, golfing, traveling and spending time together as a family. Along with her devoted husband and children, Katherine is survived by her father, Ernie of Albany, NY her sisters, Lynda Rao and her husband Steve of Scottsdale, AZ, Nancy Minehan and her husband Dave of Albany, NY, Mary Anne Lewis and her husband Glenn of Pilot, NC, Laura Rooney and her husband William of Ludlow, MA; and brothers, Thomas Betzwieser and his wife Lynn of Hickory, N.C., James Betzwieser and his wife Linda of Niskayuna, NY. Katherine is also survived by many extended family members including her brothers and sisters-in-law; many special nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Katherine’s family greatly appreciates all the love, care and support they have received from family, friends, co-workers and the community of Scituate, MA.
Funeral from the McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 1 Summer St. (across from St. Anthony Church), Cohassett, MA. on Monday, May 22 at 9 a.m. followed a celebration of Christian Burial in St. Mary of the Nativity Church at 10 a.m.Interment, St. Mary Cemetery, Scituate.
