Josephine (Karaskiewicz) Zucco, 83, of Ludlow, passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2020, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Ludlow on March 19, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Kargol) Karaskiewicz. Josie attended the former Springfield Technical High School. She worked at Ligget’s Drug and U.S. Envelope and then devoted her life to raising her family. She was a communicant of Christ the King Church in Ludlow. Josie loved bingo and her trips to Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun. She especially enjoyed watching college football and basketball and was a fan of the New York Jets. Josie’s favorite times were those spent with family and friends.
Josie is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years Donald Zucco of Ludlow; her sons James Zucco of West Warren, Richard Zucco (Kathleen) of Ludlow and a daughter Jennifer Karelakas (Peter) of Belchertown. She also leaves her beloved grandchildren James, Nicholas, Nathan, Kyle and Elizabeth. The youngest of 8 children she was predeceased by her siblings Henry, Eddie, Stanley, Rudy, Mitchell, Louise and Helen.
Family and friends are invited to gather for Josie’s funeral Mass on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at 10:30 AM in Christ the King Church, followed by burial in St. Michael’s Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Saturday, September 19, 2020 from 8:30-9:45 AM at the Kapinos-Mazur Funeral Home, 64 Sewall St., Ludlow, MA. Masks, social distancing and all state gathering restrictions will be adhered to. In lieu of flowers, donations in Josie’s memory may be made to Christ the King Church, 41 Warsaw Ave., Ludlow, MA 01056.
