John Pereira 80 of Ludlow died Monday January 2, 2012 in Mercy Medical Center. Born in Ludlow February 9, 1931 son of the late Domingos and Lucinda (Pereira) Pereira. Educated in local schools, he proudly served his Country during the Korean War Era as a member of the Army of the United States. A Communicant of St. Elizabeth Parish, he was the Owner of Val’s Garage in Ludlow for many years, and was a retired truck driver for Banas Concrete of Ludlow. A lover of the great outdoors, he was an avid hunter. He is survived by his wife Phyllis (Kokoszka) Pereira, a son John Pereira and his wife Lisa of Ludlow, Joyce Cain and her husband Robert of Three Rivers, and Lynn Santos of Ludlow, sadly he was predeceased by a son in law Antonio Santos who died March 17, 2010. Brother of Alvero Pereira of Ludlow, and Alice Szczygiel, Rosalina Martin, Irene Galarneau, Carol Thompson, and Hazel Mazzucco all of Spring Hill, FL. Cherished grandfather of 8, great grandfather of 5. Also survived by many extended family members and friends.

Friday at 9 AM from the Kapinos-Mazur Funeral Home 64 Sewall St. Ludlow followed by a 10 AM Liturgy of Christian Burial offered by the Catholic Community of St. Elizabeth in St. John the Baptist Church 181 Hubbard St. Ludlow Msgr. Homer P. Gosselin will preside. Rites of Committal will follow in Island Pond Cemetery.
