John L. Morin, 60, of Sleepy Hollow, NY passed away Monday, February 9, 2015. Born June 5, 1954 in Springfield, MA, he was the son of the late George and Frances (Mango) Morin. Raised in Springfield, John was a graduate of the High School of Commerce.
He went on to study at STCC and Westfield State College, but his love of fine food brought him to The Culinary Institute of America where he graduated and went on to a career in some of the finest restaurants in New York. He and Darlene remained in New York and enjoyed showing family and friends their favorite places. John loved Manhattan, traveling, the theater and movies, reading, debating politics and social issues and cooking for friends and family gatherings. He stayed close to his extended family throughout his life.
He is survived by his wife Darlene (Redin) Morin of Sleepy Hollow, NY; a brother Ronald Morin and his wife Allyn of Easthampton, MA; in-laws Carol and Alfred Alves of Ludlow, MA ; Sandra and Brian Dolley of Ludlow, MA ; Nina and Robert Redin of Ludlow, MA; nephews, nieces, cousins and extended family.
Funeral services celebrating Johns life will be held Tuesday,February 17, 2015 at 1:30 PM at the Kapinos-Mazur Funeral Home, 64 Sewall St, Ludlow, MA 01056 with Msgr. Homer Gosselin presiding. Burial will follow in Island Pond Cemetery, Center St, Ludlow, MA
