Jeannette L. (Gathro) Mastalerz

Jeannette L. Mastalerz, 87, passed away at home on Thursday, November 4, 2021, surrounded by her family.  Born in Palmer, MA on February 21, 1934, she was the daughter of the late James and Hazel (Walder) Gathro.  She was a graduate of Palmer High School class of 1951 and married Stanley Mastalerz in 1953.  They enjoyed 65 years of marriage until his death in November, 2018.  Jeannette worked as a secretary to the principal at Palmer High School until Stanley was discharged from the Navy.  They then moved to Ludlow in 1957, where they raised their eight children.  She also worked as a bookkeeper at the Kestral Corp in Springfield, as a noon mother at Chapin St. School in Ludlow, at Howard Johnson’s on the Mass Pike in Ludlow, and she retired from Valmont Inc. in Ludlow after 14 years.  Jeannette was a communicant of Christ the King Church in Ludlow and a member of the parish’s Rosary Sodality.

Jeannette is survived by her eight children Susan Lesniak (Michael) of Granby, Sandra Colby (Mark) of Greenfield, Sheila Whelan of Webster, Sharon Bourdeau (Gary) of Schodack, NY, Sally Gwiazdowski (John) of Windsor, CT, Shirley Connors (Kevin) of Agawam, Stanley Mastalerz of Bend, OR,  and Steven Mastalerz of Ludlow.  She also leaves her many beloved grandchildren Christopher, Michael, Nick, Stephen, Rachel, Matthew, Juliana, Kayla, Andrew, Lucas, Katy, Joe, Megan, Mike, Kevin, Suzie, Erin, Val and Adam as well as her great-grandchildren Ethan, Samantha, Jocelyn, twins Harvey and Angelica, Grayson and Rosalie.  Jeannette was predeceased by her loving husband Stanley, her siblings Blanche, Donald and James Gathro and her great-grandchildren twins Gabriel and Elijah.

Visiting hours for Jeannette will be Tuesday, November 9, 2021 from 4:00-7:00 PM at the Kapinos-Mazur Funeral Home, 64 Sewall St., Ludlow, MA.  Funeral services celebrating Jeannette’s life will be held Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at 10:00 AM in Christ the King Church, Warsaw Ave, Ludlow, MA.  Please meet directly at church. Burial will follow in Sts Peter and Paul Cemetery, Three Rivers, MA. Donations in Jeannette’s memory may be made to Christ the King Church, 45 Warsaw Avenue,  Ludlow, MA 01056 (parish use only).
