Janet M. (Flower) Martin, 85, of Ludlow, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2020, surrounded by her loving family. Daughter of the late Andrew and Mary (Quinlan) Flower, she was born in Hartford, CT on April 18, 1935. Janet worked for the former Albert Steiger Co, and then as a receptionist for Friendly Ice Cream Co until her retirement. A devout communicant of St. Elizabeth’s Parish in Ludlow, she was member of the Ladies of St. Anne. Janet enjoyed traveling especially to the Cape, Maine, Lake George and a yearly trip to their home in Bradenton, Florida. She was very involved with Marriage Encounter with her husband where they made lifelong friends. She also enjoyed her time working at the Ludlow polls and St. Elizabeth meat pie project. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
Janet is survived by her 6 children. Joan Haney (Steven) of Ludlow, Robert Martin (Joanna) of Princeton, NJ; Kenneth Martin (Donna) of Palmer; Kevin Martin of Ipswich; Gary Martin of Hanover; and Laureen Smith (Christopher) of Ludlow. She also leaves her 15 grandchildren Dr. Brian Haney, Lisa Vazquez, Dr. Gregory Haney, Julie Henry, Andrew, Sara, Caroline, Jeffrey, Liane, Liam, and Eamonn Martin, Nicholas and Colin Gordon, Quinn and Caden Smith and 8 great-grandchildren; Kate,Tyler, Alexander, Brooklyn, Austin, Savannah, Anna and Maxwell. Sadly, she was predeceased by her husband, Roger Martin, in 2009 after 55 years of marriage and her brother, Fr. Thomas Flower, in 2010.
