Obituary

Horace Dias 79 a life long resident of Ludlow left this earth and those he loved in the comfort and friendship of his caregiver Rose Reilly LeMay at a Chicopee nursing home, Thursday April 8. Rose truly helped to make his crossover to eternal life easy and peacefully. Born in Ludlow, October 10, 1933 son of the late Antonio and Maria (Amadeu) Dias. A Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict he proudly served his country having been stationed on the USS Monterey and the USS Chabot. Horace later worked as a custodian for the Springfield School Department and retired after many years of service. He is survived by his friends with who he made his home Harry and Lorraine Ney, A son Laurence Dias of Ludlow, his daughters Renee Sirois and her husband David of Feeding Hills, Suzanne Riendeau and her husband John of Northfield, Hayley Babineau and her husband Ludlow Fire Chief Mark Babineau. Grandfather of Krista Sirois and her longtime friend Matt Skowron of Agawam, Jason Sirois and his wife Jennifer of Springfield, Valerie, Stephanie, and William Randall of Northfield, and Justin, Michael, and Lindsay Babineau of Ludlow. Brother of Amelia Millie Dias, Antonio Dias and his wife Pauline all of Ludlow sadly he was predeceased by his brother John Dias in 2002. Also survived by a sister in law Eva Dias of Ludlow and a cousin Walter Simiao and his wife Joan. Also survived by many nieces and nephews extended family members and friends.
His entire family would like to thank Rose and the entire Birch Manor Staff and Family for their outstanding care during his stay there. We will never forget you.

Service Information

Funeral services celebrating his life will be Monday April 12, 2010 at 11 AM at the Kapinos-Mazur Funeral Home 64 Sewall St. Ludlow Deacon Francis Rogers will preside. Rites of Committal with Military Honors will follow in Island Pond Cemetery.
