Henrietta N. (Giera) James

Henrietta N. (Giera) James, 90, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 23, 2023.  Born in Chicopee on October 5, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Josephine (Nizalowski) Giera.  Henrietta was a graduate of Chicopee High School and Baystate Medical Center School of Nursing.  She spent her career as the school nurse at East St. School in Ludlow.  A devout communicant of St. Elizabeth’s Parish, she was a member of the Padre Pio prayer group.

Henrietta is survived by her sons John James Jr. (Helen) of Chicopee, Daniel James (Starlita) of Phoenix, AZ, Kathleen James of Ludlow and Mary Perkins (Raymond) of Raleigh, NC along with her 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.  She also leaves her brother-in-law James James (Keiko) and sisters-in law Cecil James and Margaret Morin.  Sadly, she was predeceased by her husband John James in 1998, her daughter Jennifer Switzer in 2012 and her granddaughter Autumn Rose Switzer in 2002.

Henrietta was extremely grateful for her devoted granddaughter Savannah, who helped take care of her beloved grandmother over many years.

Visiting hours for Henrietta will be Monday, May 1, 2023 from 9:00-10:30 AM at the Kapinos-Mazur Funeral Home, 64 Sewall St., Ludlow, MA followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in St. Elizabeth’s Parish.  Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Montgomery St. Chicopee, MA.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Henrietta’s memory may be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104 or www.shrinerschildrens.org.
