Helen (Charkiewicz) Bruce

Helen (Charkiewicz) Bruce, 85, of Indian Orchard passed away on Monday, February 10, 2020.  Daughter of the late Victor and Helen (Filipiak) Charkiewicz, she was born in Springfield on January 11, 1935.  A lifelong resident, Helen was educated in local schools and worked for the U.S. Postal Service for many years.  She was devout communicant of St. Michael’s Cathedral in Springfield. 

Helen is survived by her daughter Caroline Bruce Landau and her son-in-law Christopher Landau; her brother Rudolph Charkiewicz and his wife Teresa; her grandchildren Nathaniel Bruce Landau and Julia Bruce Landau; her nephews Mitch Charkiewicz and his wife Sandra and Thomas Charkiewicz and his wife Nancy; her great-nephews Dwight and Dennis Charkiewicz and her cousin Stacia Filipiak.  Sadly, she was predeceased by her brothers Mitchell, Edward, and Adolph Charkiewicz.

Family and friends are asked to gather on Friday, February 14, 2020 at St. Michael’s Cathedral for a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM.  Rites of Committal will follow in St. Aloysius Cemetery.  Visiting hours at the church will precede the Mass from 10:00-10:30 AM.  Memorial donations in Helen’s name may be made to St. Michael’s Cathedral, 260 State St., Springfield, MA 01103.
