Gerald W. Robbins 82 of East St. died Tuesday April 19 in Baystate Medical Center. Born in Orange, MA October 23, 1928 son of the late L. Nelson Robbins Sr. and Grace (Cummings) Robbins. During WWII he proudly served his county as a member 71st Engineers Battalion of the United States Army, seeing service in Northern Japan. He and his father were the former owner operators of Robbins Service Station in Ludlow for many years, he later worked for the Town of Ludlow school department as a custodian. He was also a driver for Medieros-Williams Chevrolet in Wilbraham. An avid race car fan, he and longtime friend Richard Chase built and raced a stock car at Riverside Park Speedway. He was also an avid hockey fan. He was predeceased by his brother L. Nelson Robbins Jr. He is survived by his devoted sister in law Victorina (Ventura) Robbins, loving nieces Barbara Bush of Agawam, Mona Hottin and her husband Bill of Monson, Eva Robbins-Davies and her husband Todd of Monson, and Melanie Hopkins and her husband Carl of Ludlow. grand nieces and nephews Fred Bush and his wife Amanda, Douglas Bush and his wife Kacey, David Bush, Evan Brassard and his fiance Melanie Hastings, and Rachel Spirito. Also survived by extended family members and friends.
