Franklin Gallup Snyder, 87, of Ludlow passed away on April 4, 2018 at Baystate Medical Center. Son of the late Franklin and Esther (Gallup) Snyder, he was born in Holyoke, MA on February 21, 1931. A longtime Granby resident, Frank attended Granby schools and was a 1948 graduate of South Hadley High School. He attended the University of Arizona at Flagstaff before enlisting in the U. S. Air Force. Upon discharge, he worked for United Airlines in Los Angeles, CA. He returned to New England, working for the Holyoke Water Power Company and Northeast Utilities for 34 years, retiring in 1990.
Frank enjoyed fishing and boating, particularly on Martha’s Vineyard and the Connecticut shore. After his marriage to Judith Buckley Snyder in 1977, he switched from boats to motor homes, traveling extensively throughout the United States and parts of Canada. Frank and Judy also traveled to Europe several times. They especially enjoyed hiking in Switzerland with family, but also enjoyed exploring Germany from where Frank’s great grandparents came.
Frank was active in youth groups in Granby, especially the Granby Sea Scouts. He was a member of Vernon Lodge of Masons and the First Church in Ludlow.
Frank is survived by his wife of 40 years, Judith Ann Buckley Snyder, his sister-in-law, Sydney Snyder, brothers-in-law James and Michael Buckley, their spouses and several devoted nieces and nephews. Besides his parents Frank was predeceased his brother Charles Snyder of Granby.

A memorial service will be Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 11:00 AM at First Church in Ludlow, 859 Center St., Ludlow, MA.
