Obituary

Fannie B. (Brockway) Pease, 93, of Ludlow, passed away on December 2, 2015 at Wingate of Wilbraham after a prolonged illness. Born in East Haddam, CT on April 8, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Wallace and Fannie (Whitehead) Brockway. She moved to Ludlow in her early childhood and continued to live there for the remainder of her years.

A graduate of Ludlow High School, Fannie worked in the Ludlow Mills, at Millers Dairy Bar and at Sears as a supervisor in the catalog department at Eastfield Mall retiring after many years of service. She was a member of the Ludlow Senior Center and until recently served the Town of Ludlow as a poll worker during elections. Fannie was a member of the First Church in Ludlow, serving on numerous committees and was a mainstay in the kitchen for many Church events. She was also a member of the Churchs Harvest Club and the Welcome Workers.

Fannie was also an active member of the Grange for over 65 years, holding many offices including Master of the former Ludlow Grange, Pomona Grange and Massachusetts State Grange. For 17 years Fannie was a host for the Grange building at the Big E. and along with her husband Walter received the Rose Award for their dedication to public service in the Grange.

Fannie always found time to attend her familys sporting events or 4-H activities, and during her later years found much joy in visiting with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Fannie is survived by her three sons and their wives, Robert and Diane Pease, Richard and Pamela Pease and Roy and Kathleen Pease all of Ludlow; and her daughter Susan Chilcote of Indiana. She also leaves her 12 grandchildren: Kimberly Steigmeyer, Alison Pease; Ryan and Jason Pease; Kayla Barrasso; Michael and James Pease; John, Michael, Jeremy and Christopher Chilcote and Terri Jo Himelick along with 13 great-grandchildren. Also surviving Fannie is her brother-in-law, Carl Pease and his wife Dorothy of New York as well as many cherished nieces and nephews. Sadly Fannie was predeceased by her husband of 69 years Walter Pease Jr. in 2011 and her son-in-law Terry Chilcote in 2010.

Fannies family wishes to thank both the Hospice caregiver Vivian and the staff at Wingate at Wilbraham for their care.
