Obituary

Ft. Lauderdale- Born on June 22, 1932 to Steve and Mary Beneski of Suffield, CT, “Ellie” died peacefully in her sleep on September 12, 2012 at the age of 80 after a long goodbye due to Alzheimer’s. Beloved wife of 56 years to Richard Pianowski, she spent most of her life in Wilbraham,MA, and Fort Lauderdale,FL. She leaves her son Steve, daughter-in-law Pam and grandchildren Christian of Florida, Kaitlin of Denver, CO and Karli of Great Barrington, MA. She also leaves her daughter Linda and son-in-law Jim Flahive, grandchildren Emily and Jimmy of Longmeadow, and her son Bob Pianowski of East Corinth,VT. as well as her brother Stan and wife Sharon Beneski of Suffield.

Ellie maintained her beauty, grace, athletic ability and enthusiasm throughout her life, being very active cheering for her kids, skiing, golfing, and teaching her grandchildren how to ice and roller skate until she was in her 70’s.

As a graduate of Suffield High and Bay Path Junior College, she worked at Hamilton Standard as an executive secretary and then continued to work as an administrative assistant at Netcom, helping to start a successful business with her husband.

She spent much of her free time working out at the YMCA and was an active member of the Women’s Group at St. Cecilia’s Parish with her best friend Grace Perez. Together they were always planning trips, social events and family gatherings. When her memory started to fail, Richard and Eleanor moved permanently to Ft.Lauderdale and spent their time relaxing at the beach and enjoying life until Ellie had to go to a nursing home. The wonderful care she received from Southeast Hospice in Ft. Lauderdale made the transition to Massachusetts easy as the nurses at the East Longmeadow Skilled Nursing Center treated her with the dignity, care and respect that she deserved.
Ellie was a member of Christ the King Parish in Ludlow, MA, and St. Sebastian’s Church in Ft.Lauderdale, FL.
