Edward P. Golden 82 of Ludlow died Tuesday July 23, 2013 in Baystate Medical Center. Born in Palmer, MA November 25, 1930 son of the late William J. and Mary Ellen (Bowler) Golden, of the Red Bridge section of Ludlow. Educated in local schools, he proudly served his Country as a member of the 82ND Airborne, and the U.S. Special Forces during the Korean War attaining the Rank of 2ND Lieutenant. After a long career in construction, Ed retired from the Springfield Water Works as the superintendent of the Ludlow Reservoir. He was a former Communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church where he was a long time member of it’s choir. And now a Communicant of St. Elizabeth Parish. Ed also serviced the Town of Ludlow as a member of the Department of Public Works Board. He was also a member of the Special Forces Association. He is survived by his loving family his beloved wife of 62 years Elaine (Hiney) Golden, Children William of Albuquerque, NM, Lisa of Westwood, MA and James of Ludlow. Cherished grandfather of Jordan, Morgan, Jessie and Gavin Golden of Albuquerque, NM Kristen, Alyssa and Graydon DeCamp of Westwood, MA and Meghan, Conor, and Patrick Golden of Wilbraham, MA. Brother of Eileen Fillion and Elizabeth Gaviglio of Ludlow. Also survived by many nieces, nephews extended family members and friends. Sadly he was predeceased by his brothers John, William, Paul and Bernard Golden, and sisters Marie White and Grace O’Connor.

Funeral services celebrating his life will be Saturday July 27, 2013 at 8:45 AM from the Kapinos-Mazur Funeral Home 64 Sewall St. Ludlow followed by a Con-celebrated Liturgy of Christian Burial offered by the Catholic Community of St. Elizabeth in St. John the Baptist Church 181 Hubbard St. Ludlow at 10 AM. Rites of Committal with Military Honors will follow in Island Pond Cemetery.
