Edward J. Fila

Edward J. Fila, 87, of Westfield, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, February 25, 2016. Born in Westfield, MA on August 3, 1928, he was the son of the late Frank and Apolonia (Bozak) Fila. Educated in Westfield schools, Edward worked as a blacksmith for H. B. Smith for many years. He proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army. He was an avid sportsman who loved the outdoors

Edward is survived by two sons; Edward C. Fila of Agawam, MA and Brian C. Fila of Yulee, FL; a brother Chester Fila of Southampton, MA and three sisters: Helen Lavoie of West Springfield, MA; Stella Hebda and Vera Cunningham both of Westfield, MA and his companion Beverly (Frink) Fila. He also leaves 9 beloved grandchildren. Sadly, he was predeceased by his son Mark Fila and grandsons Neal and William Fila. Also, his sisters Julia Serafin, Amelia Koziol, Anna Werner, and brothers Charles Burkot, John and Frank Fila
