Don Turk Smokowicz 64, died Tuesday June 25, 2013 in the care and comfort of his home after a short battle with cancer. Born in Ludlow March 24, 1949 son of Wanda (Swiderski) and the late Stanley Smoky Smokowicz. Educated in local schools, He and his father were the former owners of Ludlow Burial Vault and Cement Products. He was also a part time laborer at Oak Grove Cemetery. A Communicant of Christ the King Church, Turk was an avid race car fan, and loved all sports. He is survived by his loving family, his mother Wanda, a sister Lynda Robbins and her husband Terry all of Ludlow. A nephew Christopher, and his best friend Subby Charizione, an aunt Jane Vallone, and a uncle Fred Swiderski. Also survived by extended family members and friends. He will also be missed by his cats Frances and Gustoff. Don’s entire family extends their deepest thanks to Beacon Hospice for their excellent care your kindness will never be forgotten. Funeral services celebrating his life will be Friday June 28, 2013 at 11:30 from the Kapinos-Mazur Funeral Home 64 Sewall St. Ludlow followed by a 12 Noon Liturgy of Christian Burial in Christ the King Church 41 Warsaw Avenue Ludlow. Rites of committal will follow in St. Aloysius Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home Friday morning from 10-11:30 AM.
