Donald H. Zucco, 84, of Ludlow, passed away on Saturday, December 11, 2021. Son of the late Frank J. and Jennie (Ottavio) Zucco, he was born in Springfield on October 13, 1937. Donald attended Holy Name School and graduated from Cathedral High School and Fairfield University. He proudly served in the Army National Guard. Along with his late brother Frank, he co-owned a number of bars and restaurants over the years. Donald had a long career as a sales representative with the phone company retiring from NYNEX as a manager. He was also an area real estate developer, owning Zucco Realty and Zucco Construction. Upon retirement he worked part time for the Hampden County Sheriff’s Dept. Donald was a devout communicant of Christ the King Church in Ludlow. He was also an avid Giants, Yankees and UMass Basketball fan.
Donald is survived by his sons James Zucco and Richard Zucco (Kathleen) of Ludlow and a daughter Jennifer Karalekas (Peter) of Belchertown. He also leaves his beloved grandchildren James, Nicholas and his wife Kayla, Nathan, Kyle and Elizabeth as well as several nieces and nephews. Sadly, Donald was predeceased by his wife Josephine Zucco in 2020 and his brothers Frank Zucco Jr. and Bernard Zucco.
Funeral services for Donald will be Friday, December 17, 2021 at 8:45 AM at the Kapinos-Mazur Funeral Home, 64 Sewall St., Ludlow, MA followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Christ the King Church. Burial will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be Thursday, December 16, 2021 from 3:00-6:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Donald’s memory may be made to Christ the King Church, Warsaw Ave., Ludlow, MA 01056.
