David R. Lavigne, 78, of Ludlow passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2017. Son of the late David J. and Irene (Grenier) Lavigne, Dave was born in Ludlow on May 17, 1938. A lifelong resident, he was a graduate of Ludlow High School and STCC. Dave proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy. He served the Town of Ludlow Fire Department as Captain for many years. Dave was a communicant of St. Elizabeth’s Parish in Ludlow.
Dave loved snowmobiling, flying remote planes with members of the HCRC and sailing with family and friends.
Dave is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years Janet (Lacroix) Lavigne of Ludlow; three sons David E. LaVigne (Pam) of Clarksville, TN, Mark E. Lavigne of Ludlow and Michael R. Lavigne (Crystal) of Belchertown and a daughter Lisa Marie Haluch (Tom) of Ludlow and his former daughter-in-law Trisha Lavigne of Ludlow; a brother Richard R. Lavigne of Port St. Lucie, FL and two sisters Gloria Preston of Springfield and Judith Boatwright of AL. Dave also leaves his 7 beloved grandchildren Matthew, David, Kelly, Andrew, Daniel Eric and Alex and 5 great-grandchildren Liam, Lennox, Uriah, Elias and Freya.
Visiting hours at the funeral home will be Monday, January 30, 2017 from 4:00-7:00 PM
Funeral services celebrating Dave’s life will Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at 8:45 AM at Kapinos-Mazur Funeral Home, 64 Sewall St., Ludlow, MA followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Elizabeth’s Parish, Hubbard St., Ludlow, MA. Rites of Committal with Military Honors will follow in Island Pond Cemetery, Center St., Ludlow, MA.
In lieu of flowers donations in Dave’s memory may be made to the Ludlow Fire Dept Social Club, P.O. Box 382, Ludlow, MA 01056 or St. Elizabeth’s Parish, 181 Hubbard St, Ludlow, MA 01056.
