Byron “Bill” Lawrence, 88, of Davenport, FL, formerly of Ludlow, passed away Thursday, May 10, 2018. Son of the late Byron and Bertha Mae (Lotz) Lawrence, he was born December 26, 1929 in Bogalusa, LA. A decorated war veteran, Bill proudly served his country for over 21 years working the flight deck as a member of the U.S. Navy during both the Korean and Vietnam wars. After his retirement from the Navy he worked as a truck driver for Friendly Ice Cream Corp.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Winifred “Lucille” (Mournighan) Lawrence of Davenport, FL, a son Walter Lawrence and his wife Kathryn of Ludlow; a daughter Cynthia Johnston and her husband Bill of Davenport, FL and a sister, Marie Knight of Gulfport, MS. Bill also leaves his 2 beloved grandsons David Lawrence and his wife Diana and Douglas Lawrence and his wife Samantha as well as his great-grandson Byron.
Visiting hours at the funeral home will be Friday, May 25, 2018 from 5:00-7:00 PM.
Funeral services for Bill will be held Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 9:45 AM at the Kapinos-Mazur Funeral Home, 64 Sewall St, Ludlow, MA followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Elizabeth’s Parish, Hubbard St., Ludlow, MA at 11:00 AM. Rites of Committal with Military Honors will be in Island Pond Cemetery, Center St., Ludlow, MA.
