Audrey "Red" (Darby) Consolmagno

Audrey “Red” (Darby) Consolmagno, 95, of Ludlow passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2020.  Daughter of the late Chester and Jean Darby, she was born in Springfield, MA on December 13, 1924. A graduate of the High School of Commerce and STCC, Audrey worked for many years as a teaching assistant in the Springfield Public Schools.  A longtime Ludlow resident, she was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Parish and a member of the DAR.  Audrey was active at the Ludlow Sr. Center; served as a volunteer at the Mass. Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery; enjoyed tap dancing and collecting Shirley Temple dolls.  Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and her beloved cat Lilly.

Audrey is survived by her children Barbara Consolmagno of Springfield, Laura Michaelian (Richard) of East Longmeadow; Mark Consolmagno of Naples, FL, Michael Consolmagno (Lisa) of Chicopee and her sister Barbara Foltz of East Longmeadow.  She also leaves her 7 beloved grandchildren Adam, Chelsea (Carson), Brianna, Paul (Molly), Kristen, Glen (Ariel) and Sarah.  Sadly, she was predeceased by her husband of 61 years Frederick Consolmagno in 2011.

Visiting hours for Audrey will be Wednesday, January 15, 2020 from 9:00-10:15 AM at the Kapinos-Mazur Funeral Home, 64 Sewall St., Ludlow, MA; followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in St. Elizabeth’s Parish, 181 Hubbard St., Ludlow, MA. Burial will be at 1:00 PM in the Massachusetts Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Agawam, MA. Donations in Audrey’s memory may be made to the Thomas J. O’Connor Animal Shelter, 627 Cottage St., Springfield, MA 01104 or the Friends of the Ludlow Senior Center Building Fund, 37 Chestnut St., Ludlow, MA 01056.
