Alfred R. Alves, 82, of Ludlow passed away tragically on Tuesday, July 4, 2017. Born in Ludlow on April 7, 1935, he was the son of the late John and Casmira (Rebelo) Alves. A graduate of Ludlow High School, Alfred attended Western New England College. He worked for many years as a computer services manager for the former Package Machinery Co, the Chicopee Public School system and Mass Mutual. He was a longtime member and president of the Ludlow Youth Soccer Association. Alfred was a communicant of St. Elizabeth’s Parish in Ludlow.
Alfred is survived by his sons David J. Alves and his wife Cynthia of Sudbury, MA and Daniel J. Alves of Monson, MA. He also leaves his beloved grandchildren Dr. Meghan Alves, Eric, Jennifer and Christopher Alves. Sadly his beloved wife Carol (Redin) Alves and his son Darrin J. Alves passed away with him on July 4, 2017.
Visiting hours will be Sunday, July 9, 2017 from 1:00-5:00 PM at the Kapinos-Mazur Funeral Home, 64 Sewall St, Ludlow, MA.
Family and friends are asked to gather for a Funeral Mass on Monday, July 10, 2017 at 11:30 AM at St. Elizabeth’s Parish, Hubbard St. Ludlow, MA. Burial will follow in Island Pond Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers or gifts the Alves family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverly Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452.

I remember Freddy as I called him when I was younger. Every time I saw him he put a smile on my face, with his upbeat and fun-loving attitude. I believe is mother was my grandmother's sister. I'm so sorry to hear about such a tragic accident.
