Obituary

Acacio J. “Casey” Almeida, 82, passed away on Friday, September 18, 2020 with his loved ones by his side. Casey was born in Ludlow, MA. to Domingos and Maria Almeida and was the youngest of 10 children.  A lifelong resident, Casey worked as an electrician with IBEW Local #7. He was a beloved member of the Dante Club in West Springfield for over 40 years. He loved playing racquetball and golf with his many friends. Anyone fortunate enough to know Casey, knew that he would drop everything to help someone in need. There wasn’t anything or any problem that he could not  fix. His greatest joy was his family. He and his wife Mary were beyond blessed to have been married for 62 years and together for 65 years, the love they shared was unlike any other. The world lost a truly great son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Casey touched the hearts of many with his constant acts of kindness, leaving countless smiles along the way. He was loved by all that knew him. His favorite quote was “When you have the love of family. You have it all”.

Casey’s memory will live on through his loving wife Mary Almeida of Ludlow; his son Kevin Almeida of Ludlow; his daughter Karen Almeida of Hollywood, FL; his beloved granddaughter Alexa; his sister’s Margaret Mathias and Amy Kania; along with several nieces, nephews and countless friends.

Casey was an angel on earth and will continue to be in his next life,  as he is now reunited with his parents and siblings Mary, Julie, Tony, Virginia, Gussie, Joey and Jerry in heaven.

Mary and family, my sincere condolences on the passing of my old friend, Casey. I have many fond memories of my days at the Dante Club with Casey and the rest of the gang. Hotly contested racquetball games, followed by beers and laughs at the bar. Even though life has taken me away from the area, I considered Casey to be a friend for life. Many, many others felt the same way. I am sorry for your loss, but you can take comfort in knowing that Casey was loved by all who knew him. My very best to you always. Dennis Sbrega.

Casey left such a tremendous mark on many of us. I feel so fortunate that "Case" was such a large part of mine and my families life. My condolences to all of you. Words do not do justice to the man that Casey was. From my Dad's best friend to my daughters "first boyfriend" and everything in between, he will forever be a part of all of us. Love Brian, Anna, Nick and Jess.
