Theresa (Martin) Burek, 91, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 1, 2017. Born in Ludlow, MA to the late Albert and Jeanette (St. Pierre) Martin on May 16, 1925, Theresa was a lifelong resident. She attended St. John the Baptist School and Cathedral High School. Theresa worked at the former Monarch Life Insurance Co, Howard Johnson’s Restaurant and Springfield Wire and other establishments.
Theresa was a devoted communicant of Christ the King Parish in Ludlow. She was a woman of strong faith with a special devotion to Our Lady of Medjugorje, whose shrine she traveled to in the former Yugoslavia. Theresa was proud of her French-Canadian heritage and enjoyed childhood memories, the French songs and sayings of her youth on Hubbard St. She loved bingo, family picnics and outings, especially the 2015 family reunion at which she was honored as the matriarch of her branch of the Martin family.
Theresa is survived by her three sons Alan Dryjowicz-Burek (Nora), Gery Burek (Grace) and Robert Burek (Sarah) and her sister-in-law Janet Martin, all of Ludlow. She also leaves her beloved grandchildren Jesse and Jonathan Dryjowicz-Burek, Katie-Lynn Prior (Stephen), Stephanie Pouliot (Gary), Jacob and Megan Burek; her great-grandson Jordan along with many, many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Theresa was predeceased by her sister Margaret Gagne and her brothers and their spouses Leonard (Annamae), Lawrence (Marie), Raymond (Jean), Roger and Thomas. Her former husband Frank Burek passed away in 2007.
Visiting hours at the funeral home will precede the service on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 from 9:00-10:30 AM
Funeral Services celebrating Theresa’s life will be held Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at 10:00 AM at the Kapinos-Mazur Funeral Home, 64 Sewall St, Ludlow, MA followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in Christ the King Church, Warsaw Ave, Ludlow, MA. Burial will be in St. Aloysius Cemetery.

Theresa was a wonderful and caring Aunt. She always put everyone first, I have fond memories of our outings to the stores, dunking donuts and her favorite was going to Wendy for a baked potato. Black rasberry ice cream was another one of her special treats. And never leave the house without Kleenex and cough drops. You have a special place in my heart. Love you. Ann Marie
