Robert J. Nelson, 88 of Ludlow passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 27, 2015 at the Woodbriar Health Center, Wilmington, MA. Born June 6, 1927 in Cambridge, MA, he was the son of the late Ludwig and Laura (Tutty) Nelson.
Robert proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He worked for many years as Maintenance Supervisor for the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of the Good Samaritan Lodge of Masons in Reading, MA.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Lois (Williams) Nelson of Ludlow, MA; three sons Robert Nelson and his wife Margaret of Reading, MA; Jon Nelson and his wife Linda of Smithtown, NY and Erik Nelson of Chicopee, MA; two daughters, Robin McCoy and her husband John of Magnolia, DE and Donna Fern and her husband Gary of Riner, VA. He also leaves a brother Richard Nelson of Reading, MA and a sister Doris Gonet of Morgan Hill, CA. Robert is also survived by 10 grandchildren. Sadly he was predeceased by his brother Ralph Nelson of Wolfeboro, NH
Funeral Services for Robert will be Monday, October 5, 2015 at 3:00 PM at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Agawam, MA, followed by a gathering at Keystone Commons, 460 West Street, Ludlow, MA
