Rita (Chenaille) Podsadowski

Rita E. (Chenaille) Podsadowski passed away April 10, 2013 in Baystate Medical Center. Born in Ludlow December 13, 1926 daughter of the late Domina and Teresa (Charpentier) Chenaille. She was a graduate of St. John the Baptist School and St. Anne’s Academy. Rita was employed by the Town of Ludlow for 25 years, served the Board of Selectmen as a clerk, Senior clerk, as Town Collector and was the first Executive Director of the Ludlow Housing Authority. In 1966, the Annual Town Report, which was planned, compiled and arranged by Rita brought honor to the town in the form of a state award. In 1970, Rita held the distinct honor of being named The employee of the year and first runner up in the Massachusetts League of Cities and Towns. Rita served as a precinct member for many years, and was on committees for the town hall, the Bicentennial, and housing for the elderly. Rita was a Communicant of the Catholic Community of St. Elizabeth, and a member of it Ladies of Ste. Anne, and the ladies Auxiliary of the Ludlow VFW Post 3236. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years Walter Podsadowski, a sister Teresa, and her brothers Maurice, Roland, and Francis Chenaille. She is survived by her beloved children her son Al Podsadowski and his wife Kathleen, their sons Samuel and Zachary, her cherished daughter Ann Gallano and husband Kenric, with whom she made her home with, their daughters Stefane Gershowitz and her husband Jay, and their two children Alexandria, and Samantha. Sandra Wainright and her husband Jason and their three children Anthony, Nathan, and Ava. A brother Albert Chenaille and his wife Mary. Sister in laws Lucy, Hilda, and Beverly Chenaille. Also survived by nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
