Michele J. 'Mike' Marino

Michele J. Mike Marino 90 of Springfield, MA a member of the Greatest Generation died Saturday June 1, 2013 at home. Born in Boston, MA September 14, 1922 son of the late Anthony and Leonarda (Russo) Marino. Educated in local schools, he proudly served his country during World War II and the Korean War as a member of the Army of the United States. He attained the rank of Technical Sergeant with the 74th Ordinance Bomb Disposal Squad. He later worked for Waldbaum’s Food Mart as a meat cutter, and retired as a buyer for the company, with service from 1953 to 1988. A Communicant of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, he was also a member of the American Legion. He was the husband of the late Alice (Korovae) Marino who died June 10, 2008. He is survived by his loving family, daughter Carol Fijal of Springfield, cherished grandfather of Michael Fijal and his friend Kelli Cloutier, and Kimberly Garvey and her husband Michael. Adoring Pa Pa of Ryan Garvey. Sadly he was predeceased by his son in law John Fijal. Also survived by extended family members and friends.
