Kenneth R. Murphy, 69, of Ludlow was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 surrounded by his family. Born July 5, 1945 in Holyoke, MA, he was the son of the late James and Viola (Wenig) Murphy. He was one of five children.
Kenneth grew up in Chicopee before settling in Ludlow. In 1973 he married Valerie Sevilian and had five beautiful children. He graduated from Springfield Trade School and went on to become a Master Mechanic. He worked for Monsanto(Solutia) for nearly 30 years, retiring in 2004. While at Monsanto, he served the Local 288 Union in various roles over the years. He was most proud of serving the Union as President and was an excellent negotiator. Kenneth also served on the fire brigade for Monsanto(Solutia)
He is survived by his wife of 41 years Valerie (Sevilian) Murphy; a son Michael Murphy and his wife Amy of Ludlow; three daughters Christina Murphy of Chicopee; Laura Murphy and Lisa Murphy both of Ludlow. He also leaves two brothers Edward Murphy of Chicopee and James Murphy of Monson; two sisters Janice Desroches of Chicopee and June Wegiel of Springfield. Kenneth was the proud grandfather of Alexander, Isabella, Michaela, Addison and Keegan. Sadly, he was pre-deceased by his son, Armen James.
Family and friends are invited to gather for Kenneths Funeral Service on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Kapinos-Mazur Funeral Home, 64 Sewall St, Ludlow, MA followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 12:00 Noon in the Parish Community of St. Elizabeth, Hubbard St, Ludlow, MA Rites of Committal will follow in St. Aloysius Cemetery, Berkshire Avenue, Springfield, MA.
