Joseph N. Roberts 78 a longtime Wilbraham resident died Saturday March 13 in Baystate Medical Center. Born in Ludlow, MA June 3, 1931 son of the late George and Alice (Talbot) Roberts. During the Korean Conflict Joe proudly served his country as a Private E-1 in the United States Army. He was the recipient of several awards for his service including the Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, and the United Nations Service Medal. Following his military service Joe worked for Monsanto Chemical Co. first as a chemical operator and retiring as a shift supervisor for the company. He also served the Town of Wilbraham as a Commissioner for Glendale Cemetery and as a member of the Wilbraham Cable TV Advisory Committee. He was also an avid gardener, and loved to work the land that was such a part of his life. He was the husband of the late Margaret G. Peggy Roberts his loved and cherished wife of over 50 years who died March 8, 2010. He is survived by his children Joseph M. Roberts of Voluntown, CT, James Roberts of Ludlow, MA Greg Roberts, Michael Roberts, and Sharon Lee and her husband Chuck, all of Wilbraham, MA. Cherished grandfather of 4.
