IVAN R. DESROSIERS
1930-2008
LUDLOW – Ivan R. Joe Desrosiers 78 of Gaudreau Avenue died Sunday November 16, in Mercy Medical Center. Born in Indian Orchard January 6, 1930 he was the son of the late Adelarde and Bernadette (Demers) Desrosiers. A communicant of St. John the Baptist Church, he was a member of the Indian Orchard K of C. Joe was a college professor at STCC and was well known as an Instructor for CPR and First Aid he taught many of the areas fire and police department first responders. He was also an instructor for EMT’s, and was instrumental in founding the paramedic program at STCC. He was also an avid skier and became a member of the National Ski Patrol at Mt. Tom. In 1989 Joe and his former student Barbara Pummell founded Human Service Training Consultants, Inc. and together they worked to expand First Responder, EMT and Paramedic training programs, and worked to establish a 4 year EMS Management Program at Springfield College. Joe was the 2008 recipient of the Andrew R Piwcio Lifetime Achievement Award, for his years of dedicated service in promoting Emergency Medical Service. He was also a community leader who’s goal was to provide the most technologically advanced emergency medical services to the Citizens of Ludlow. Joe was also a Special Police Office for the Town of Ludlow with over 22 years of dedicated service to his town, Joe rising thru the ranks retired as Lieutenant in April 2000. He is survived by his wife of over 60 years Lucille A. (Gosselin) Desrosiers, his daughters Anita Deragon and her husband Jim of Chicopee and Luann Laamanen and her husband Ed of Ludlow, grandfather of Jeff LaRiviere, Matthew Laamanen and Eric Laamanen. Joe is also survived by many extended family members and friends including business partner Barbara Pummell. Sadly he was predeceased by his siblings Lionel Desrosiers and Anita Martin.

Service Information

Funeral services celebrating his life will be Thursday November 20, at 10:30 AM from the Kapinos-Mazur Funeral Home 64 Sewall St. Ludlow followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. John the Baptist Church at 11 AM. Msgr, Homer P. Gosselin will preside Rites of Committal will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

I have know Joe for many years. I am a former EMT Student of both Joe and Barbara and now I am assisting with thier EMT program at STCC. Joe has touched many lives over the years and incudling mine. Joe was loved by everyone. He was a very dedicated individual and will be truly missed by everyone who he has touched over the years. May he rest in peace
