Helen K. (Kelleher) Tate

Helen K. (Kelleher) Tate, 89, of Ludlow passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.  Daughter of the late John and Georgianna (Burke) Kelleher, she was born in Springfield on August 1, 1927.  Raised in Springfield’s Hungry Hill neighborhood, Helen was a graduate of the High School of Commerce.  She worked as a medical secretary for many years before joining her husband Edmund as co-owner of Accurate Accounting Service.  Helen was a devout communicant of St. Mary’s Parish in Longmeadow.  She was a longtime member of the parish’s choir and Woman’s Guild.

Helen is survived by her sons Michael E. Tate (Ruth) of Belchertown and David B. Tate (Joan O’Neil) of Agawam, her daughter Kathleen Agin (Timothy Donoghue) of Ludlow and her grandsons Christopher Tate and Robert Agin.  She also leaves many nieces and nephews.  Sadly she was predeceased by her husband Edmund J. Tate in 2007 as well as her siblings John, Robert, George and Mary Kelleher.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrating Helen’s life on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at 10:00 AM in St. Mary’s Church, 519 Longmeadow St, Longmeadow, MA.  Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Tinkham Road, Springfield, MA.  Visiting hours at the church will precede the Mass from 9:00-10:00 AM.  Please honor Helen’s memory and love of life by wearing your favorite hat to the service.  In lieu of flowers, Helen’s family requests that donations be made to Griffin’s Friends Children’s Cancer Fund, c/o Baystate Health Foundation, 280 Chestnut St, Springfield, MA 01199 or St. Mary’s Parish, 519 Longmeadow St., Longmeadow, MA 01106.
