Obituary

George E. Fountain 61 of Winsor St. died Monday May 2 in the care and comfort of his home. Born in Ware, MA November 13, 1949 son of the late Robert & Shirley (French) Fountain. George proudly served his Country during the Vietnam War, as a member of the United States Marine Corps attaining the rank of Corporal, serving with the 1371 as a Combat Engineer. He received many Citations and Medals for his service, including the Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnamese Cross of Gallentry, Vietnamese Service Medal, Vietnamese Campaign Medal, and the Meritorious Unit Citation. He later worked for many years as an operating engineer with Local # 98. He was a member of the Frank W. Ackerman Post of the VFW in Ludlow. In 2009 He was honored by the Town of Ludlow as Veteran of the Year. He is survived by his longtime companion Robyn (Nichols) Willett of Ludlow, his sons George E. Fountain Jr and Thomas Fountain both of Ware, MA a brother Robert Fountain of Milbury, MA a sister Donna Smith of Ware, MA a grandson Michael, and his former wife Lorraine (Letendre) Fountain of Ware. Also survived by extended family members and friends.

Service Information

Funeral Services Celebrating his life will be Monday May 9 at 12 Noon at the Kapinos-Mazur Funeral Home 64 Sewall St. Ludlow Msgr. Homer P. Gosselin will preside. Rites of Committal with Military Honors will follow in the Massachusetts Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery of Agawam.

There could never be another George! We had a lot of laughs over the years and he will be sorely missed by everyone whose life he touched.
