Elizabeth J. (Brown) Humber

Elizabeth J. (Brown) Alves Humber, 87, passed away peacefully Sunday, November 15, 2015. Born in Ludlow, MA on December 24, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Ellen Brown. Elizabeth was a graduate of Ludlow High School and Becker Jr. College. She worked as an executive secretary at Monsanto Chemical Company for many years.

She loved spending summers on Marthas Vineyard with her family and friends, clamming (best clams casino on the Island), reading on the beach and enjoying the ocean air. She also enjoyed a full social life as she was an avid bridge player in her day and was an active member in her bridge club. She also enjoyed sewing and created many Halloween costumes and Prom dresses. She cherished her time with her granddaughters, attending dance performances, lacrosse games and taking such pride in the milestones of their lives. For many years she volunteered at the Community Survival Center in Indian Orchard.

Elizabeth is survived by two sons David Alves and his wife Marcy of Concord, NH and Kenneth Alves of Ludlow, MA; one daughter Dorothy McKeon of Simsbury, CT and two granddaughters Megan and Rachel McKeon. She also leaves a step-son Jeff Humber and his wife Barbara; a step-daughter Judy Alpine and her husband Andy and a step-grandson Jordan Humber and his wife Kate. Sadly, she was predeceased by her husband John Humber, a sister Dorothy Brown; a step-son Nicholas Humber and her son-in-law Joseph McKeon.
