Obituary

Donald F. Basile of Springfield, MA, formerly of Ludlow was called home on January 5, 2016. He was 71 years old. He was born October 8, 1944.

Donald proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was retired truck driver working for many area companies, most recently R & J Poultry. He was a member of VFW Post 3326 of Ludlow, MA and American Legion Post 277 of Indian Orchard, MA.

Donald was the founder of the Convoy for Kids, a tractor trailer and motorcycle run that started off benefitting the Make a Wish Foundation and for many years supported the Ronald McDonald House of Springfield, MA, as it was a local charity.

Donald leaves his wife Donna (Edwards) Basile, his daughter Dawn Basile and her longtime boyfriend Rick Dygon, all of Ludlow, MA and his son Dan Basile of Springfield, MA. He also leaves his sister Gail Johnson of Springfield, MA and his brother Robert Basile and his wife Marion of Myrtle Beach, SC. Donald leaves his loving granddaughter Aubrey Mikayla Basile and her sister Madison Kiernan of Ludlow, MA, several nieces and nephews.
