Celeste Sally (Silva) Sanford Yelle 84 a member of the Greatest Generation and the World’s Best Mother died Monday July 25, 2011 in Baystate Medical Center. Born in Ludlow. MA October 1, 1926 daughter of the late Antonio & Maria (DaFonte) Silva. Educated in local schools, she had worked as a secretary in Ludlow Town Hall for over 12 years. A member of the Fist Church in Ludlow, she was a member of the Saturday Nigh Club, was a member of the Greenfield Demolay Mothers, the James W. Hannum Chapter of the Order of the Easter Star, and a member of the Ludlow Woman’s Club. Sally was an avid reader, accomplished seamstress, loved to garden and paint, and love to cook and bake especially for her family. She was the widow of George M. Sanford who died in 1968, and Eugene R. Yelle who died 2010. She was mother of the late David Sanford who died in 2001. She is survived by her children, George M. Sanford and Carol Coulombe,of Greenfield, MA Donald R. Sanford and his wife Kathleen of Monson, MA Allen Yelle and his wife Christine of Springfield, MA Susan Lind and her husband Michael and Sherry Colson and her husband Michael all of Ludlow. A daughter in law Dorothy Sanford of Deerfield, MA 17 Grandchildren 5 Great-Grandchildren, a niece Cheryl Moriarity, and nephew Paul Francisco. A close knit circle of friends, Hank and Beverly Dinelle, Shirley Amos, Anita Allen, and Ella Tetreault.
